Think you have good plans on a Friday night? Think again. 26 year-old Kyle Busch beats his teammate Joey Logano to the line in a photo finish to become the first driver to win three consecutive NNS races at Bristol. More importantly, Busch’s win Friday night is number 50, breaking the tie with Mark Martin and making him the all-time series wins leader.

“It’s awesome, ya know,” said an elated Busch in victory lane. “To come here and to be able to beat his record at Bristol, one of my favorite places and one of the team’s favorite places. Certainly an awesome race tonight. We had a great racecar.

“Clint (Bowyer) I thought was gonna get us, thought he was gonna be the one we had to beat. Turned out I had to race Joey (Logano), my own teammate there. Those guys had a great racecar, congratulations to them. Can’t say enough about Toyota.”

The .019 seconds which separated the two JGR Toyota’s makes it the closest finish ever at a Bristol Nationwide race and seventh-closest overall in series history since the inception of electronic scoring in 1993. Clint Bowyer trailed in third with Carl Edwards and Aric Almirola rounding out the top five.

Busch lost the lead to Logano during a late race caution when he pitted for four tires and fuel. Logano, Jason Leffler and Elliott Sadler also did not pit, pushing Busch back to fourth on the restart with 53 to go.

Busch pushed up to second by the exit of turn two and ultimately made the pass on Logano for the lead on Lap 206 of 250. Busch went on to win despite a hard push by Logano, leading a total of 186 laps in route to the historic win.

Points leader entering Friday night, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., finished 11th to maintain his points lead over Elliott Sadler. Sadler’s eighth place finish closed the gap between himself and Stenhouse Jr. from eight points to only five.
