Danica Patrick Pays Tribute To Dan Wheldon In This Weekend’s NNS Race at Texas Motor SpeedwayNovember 3, 2011 No Comments This Saturday in the Nationwide race in Texas, Danica Patrick’s car will pay tribute to the late Dan Wheldon.
The No. 7 car will display Wheldon’s “Lionheart” logo on the hood and also advertise the Dan Wheldon Memorial website. Patrick’s sponsor, GoDaddy, helped to set up the website.
Patrick will also wear a special helmet which will be donated to the online auction benefiting a trust set up for Wheldon’s wife and two young sons. The auction was started when Graham Rahal announced he was auctioning off his helmet for the Wheldon family. Since then, athletes from just about every sport have donated memorabilia to the auction. To date, the online auction has raised over $200,000 dollars.
Wheldon was set to replace Patrick at Andretti Motorsports in 2012 as she moves full time to NASCAR.Tags: Dan Wheldon, Danica Patrick, Graham RahalCoverage
