Dollar General announced Thursday that they will sponsor Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2012, a partnership that comes just weeks after Dollar General parted ways with Turner Motorsports.

Dollar General will become the primary sponsor of the No. 20 Toyota Camry, driven by Joey Logano, for 12 Sprint Cup races. In addition, Dollar General will be the primary sponsor for JGR’s No. 11 in the Nationwide Series, backing Brian Scott full-time.

“Dollar General is excited to partner with Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2012,” said Dollar General’s chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling. “Dollar General’s 2012 racing program will be primarily focused on NASCAR. We chose to increase our presence in NASCAR because it is a sport that reaches our customers. We look forward to working with JGR and KBM to help us continue to build our brand through NASCAR.”

In 10 Nationwide races, Dollar General will sponsor an additional car driven by either Kyle Busch (No. 18) or Joey Logano (No. 18).

“We are thrilled to have Dollar General partner with us at Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Joe Gibbs. “Dollar General is one of the fastest-growing retail brands in the country because of its ability to deliver value and convenience, and our goal is to promote the Dollar General brand by delivering victories on the track. This is an exciting day for JGR and NASCAR.”

Dollar General will continue to support Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, returning for 10 races in 2012.

“Everyone at KBM couldn’t be happier that Dollar General is returning for more truck racing next year,” said Busch. “I’m grateful to be driving for Dollar General in both the truck and Nationwide Series. Our team will work hard to continue to put Dollar General in victory lane.”

There is no word on how long the partnership with Dollar General will last.

“We are planning a long-term deal with Dollar General,” said Gibbs. “We would like to be with them for a very long time.”
