LVMS to host Global Rallycross Championship series finale September 29, 2012March 9, 2012 No Comments
LAS VEGAS, NV. - At a press conference today, Global Rallycross (GRC) and Speedway Motorsports, Inc., parent company of Las Vegas Motor Speedway announced their new working relationship to develop rallycross racing across the United States. They will bring events to Charlotte Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and LVMS with the September 29th finale.
“We are excited to welcome this spectacular form of motorsports entertainment to Las Vegas and our speedway,” said LVMS president Chris Powell. “Global Rallycross adds even more excitement to our NASCAR Camping World Truck Series weekend and we are confident our fans will enjoy the show.”
Marcus Smith, President and Chief Operating Offiver, Speedway Motorsports and Chip Pankow, Chief Executive Officer, Global Rallycross Championship are confident the partnership will broaden audiences for both sports.
Rallycross racing has been a favorite sport for many at the X-Games. GRC cars can accelerate from zero to 60 mph. in less than two seconds, and the tracks, usually a mile in length sport turns, jumps and both dirt and asphalt surfaces. Ken Block, Tanner Foust, NNS driver Travis Pastrana and Brian Deegan are just a few of the drivers scheduled to race in the event at LVMS.
