Martin Truex Jr. has won the pole for Sunday’s AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway after posting a lap of 159.004 mph around the “Monster Mile” in which Truex calls home.

Truex has a knack for running well, while Miles the Monster is present. Truex’s most recent pole came in last season’s Sprint Cup race at Dover, with his only Sprint Cup win coming three years prior to that.

“We’ve had a really good Toyota the last few times we’ve run here,” said Truex Jr. “Really proud of my guys. Just a great lap and feels good to be back in Dover.”

Kurt Busch will fill the front row coming to green on Sunday followed by Paul Menard, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch. Jimmie Johnson, A.J. Allmendinger, Bobby Labonte, Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle rounded out the top 10.

Several Chase drivers struggled to find the speed in Saturday’s qualifying session. Jeff Gordon, who posted the fourth quickest speed in first practice and second quickest speed in Final Cup practice, has left several people scratching their head after qualifying 34th in Saturday’s session.

Gordon (@JeffGordonWeb) later tweeted, “Wow that was disappointing! Amazing how much speed u lose here when the car is loose. Going to b tough 400 laps coming from 34th.”

Other Chase drivers outside of the top 10: Denny Hamlin (11th), Brad Keselowski (15th), Matt Kenseth (18th), Ryan Newman (20th), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (21st), Kevin Harvick (22nd), Tony Stewart (28th)
