Analysis

- For the first time in series history, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history, the stars of the series will visit the legendary Rockingham Speedway for the inaugural Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200. Not only is this the first race for the NCWTS at “The Rock”, but it’s also the first time NASCAR has sanctioned a race there since February, 2004.

-The driver who finished second in the last NASCAR race at “The Rock”, Kasey Kahne, will be making the trip from Texas Motor Speedway to take part in the race. Kahne will pilot the No.4 for Turner Motorsports

-With so few drivers in the field that have never raced on Rockingham’s abrasive surface, drivers who have who have experience at “The Rock” will have the upper hand as first-time Rockingham drivers adjust the unique characteristics of the track.

- With numerous drivers in the NCWTS that have come up through the ranks of the ARCA division, surely they will be among some of the favorites heading into Sunday’s race. Drivers like Parker Kligerman and Ty Dillon – both past winners of races at “The Rock” in ARCA – are in top quality rides and riding waves of momentum heading into arguably the biggest stage of the NCWTS 2012 season.

- Goodyear and Rockingham Speedway held a tire test earlier in the season in preparation in for Sunday’s race. Jason Leffler, Timothy Peters, and James Buescher were among the drivers to take part in the session. Keeping up the them of experience and inexperience for this weekend’s race, those are some more names to keep an eye on when the green flag drops.

-  The last time the NCWTS drivers took to the track, it was at the half-mile oval of Martinsville Speedway. A race dominated by the Richard Childress Racing efforts of Kevin Harvick and rookie, Ty Dillon. Harvick lead a series record 248 of the 250 laps to take his first victory of the 2012 season in the series.

- Rockingham Speedway will mark the third different style of track the NCWTS has raced on in as many races so far in 2012. “The Rock” will be another test of team’s total packages heading into the 1.5 mile track portion of the schedule in the upcoming months.
