Almirola, who won his first pole in five Phoenix International Raceway starts, turned a fast lap of 132.910 mph. Carl Edwards qualified his No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford second at 132.905 mph.

Following Edwards was his teammate, and last week’s winner, Trevor Bayne. Clint Bowyer and Sam Hornish Jr. rounded out the top-five for Saturday’s event from the track located within the ‘valley of the sun’.
