For the second consecutive week, the No.33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet is on the pole in the Nationwide Series. Two weeks ago at Texas, it was Paul Menard. Tonight, it’s Kevin Harvick for tonight’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

Harvick, who won the pole with a lap of 124.625 mph around the 3/4-mile track, will start alongside defending race winner, Denny Hamlin for tonight’s 250 lap race.

Friday’s pole marks the 24th  career pole for Harvick, and his first of the 2012 season in Nationwide competition. It also marks the second time that Harvick will start on the pole for a Nationwide race at RIR.

“Everything’s gone pretty good,” said Harvick to the ESPN crew after qualifying. “We made some pretty big changes in practice..hopefully we can finish were we start tonight.”

The two-time Nationwide Series champion ties series legend, Sam Ard, for the fourth most poles in all time Nationwide Series competition.

Friday’s nights race features two drivers making their Nationwide debut coming from two very different backgrounds.

X-Games star and now NASCAR driver, Travis Pastrana, will make his first in a NASCAR national touring series race starting in the 25th position.

Ryan Blaney, the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dave Blaney, will make his debut in the series driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing from the eighth starting spot. The start not only marks the debut for the younger Blaney, but also for TBR in the Nationwide Series.

Making his return to the Nationwide Series, Steven Wallace will start in the 11th position driving the No.4 Ford. This marks the first start that Wallace will make not driving for his father’s Rusty Wallace Racing team.

Rounding out the top-ten starting spots for tonight’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250 from RIR are: Austin Dillon, Cole Whitt, Kasey Kahne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Elliott Sadler, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, and Kurt Busch.

Only one driver failed to qualify for Friday night’s race and it was Scott Riggs who never made a qualifying attempt after Blake Koch crashed the No.15 Ford in practice earlier in the morning.
