After an outstanding pit stop thanks to his pit crew with 55 laps to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., in the No. 6 EcoBoost Ford, took the lead from Mark Martin in the No. 18 and led the remaining laps taking the checkered flag in the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motorspeedway.

“To win on a mile and a half is big for me” said Stenhouse during his post-race conference with the media.

This marks Stenhouse Jr.’s third victory in 76 NASCAR Nationwide Series races, and puts him third in the NNS points standings.

Mark Martin who led 44 laps, finished second. “He…that was one serious beat down he out on me that last run” said Martin when asked if he could have stayed in the lead had he gotten out of pit road ahead of Stenhouse Jr. This is Martin’s seventh top-10 finish in seven races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and his first top-10 finish in 2012.

Pole sitter Elliott Sadler, in the No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet, led 26 laps and finished third. This is his second top-10 finish in six races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Sadler leads the NNS points standing by 15 points over Austin Dillon.

Trevor Bayne finished fourth and rounding out the top five, Las Vegas native Brendan Gaughan took fifth.

Lady luck was not a friend to several drivers throughout the day.

Running 1st, Keselowski ran out of gas on lap 133 and then had difficulty starting the car. Coupled with a pass through penalty for speeding on pit road, Keselowski went 4 laps down, finishing 23rd.

“We just had a problem there. I had a car I felt could win the race and it just wasn’t meant to be. It’s been kind the tale of the tape for me here at Vegas. I’m so excited to have a fast car. That’s where it all starts, just got to execute it from there. It wasn’t meant to be.”

Kyle Bush also had a rough day, hitting the wall at lap 12 and going 70 laps down after repairs, finished in 33rd place.
