BROOKLYN,MI— Ryan Truex will not race in Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Truex, driver of the No.83 Toyota for BK Racing, was involved in a crash in opening Sprint Cup Series practice for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Truex hit the turn-two wall head-on in the opening minutes of the session. He was taken to the infield care center for precautionary measures. Truex was then transferred to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Due to the crash, the No.83 team was forced to prepare the backup car for Sunday’s race. The status for Truex, who qualified thirty-seventh, has yet to be cleared to participate in tomorrow’s event.
JJ Yeley will drive in-place of Truex in tomorrow’s two-hundred-lap event.
ESPN reports indicated that both Matt Crafton, who practiced and qualified Martin Truex Jr.’s car yesterday, and Johnny Sauter were in consideration for the seat.Coverage
