Travis Pastrana Breaks Foot & Ankle at X-Games 17; Will Likely Miss NASCAR Nationwide Series DebutJuly 29, 2011 No Comments Travis Pastrana’s hard slam in Thursday’s Best Trick competition at X-Games 17 will likely put his 2011 “Pastranathon” on hold.
Pastrana, who planned on competing in both X-Games 17 and NASCAR this weekend, broke his foot and ankle while attempting a Corked 720 in MotoX Best Trick.
Pastrana took two back-to-back attempts at the trick, both ending with heavy impact to the dirt filled Staples Center floor. On the second fall, Pastrana’s bike landed directly on his right foot.
The Action Sports superstar was transported to a local hospital immediately after for X-rays. ESPN.com later reported that the fall and impact to the foot led to a fracture of the foot and ankle.
Pastrana’s NASCAR Nationwide Series debut, which was featured in the Pastranathon, will likely be postponed until September 9th at Richmond International Raceway.
“I am sorry this happened and will be back in action as soon as I can. I look forward to Pastranathon 2012 at X Games 18,” Pastrana told ESPN.
There has been no statement from Pastrana-Waltrip Racing on who will drive the No. 99 in Saturday’s Nationwide race at Lucas Oil Raceway.Tags: Travis PastranaCoverage
