Daytona 500 Winner Trevor Bayne was hospitalized Thursday morning and is undergoing tests for symptoms that are thought to be related to an insect bite he suffered earlier in the month following the race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Roush Fenway Racing president, Steve Newmark said, “Trevor was not feeling well early this week and he is currently being evaluated for lingering symptoms that may be related to his previous insect bite.”
Bayne will miss the Nationwide race scheduled for Friday night in Richmond.
“Unfortunately Trevor will not be available to drive the No. 16 Ford for us this weekend in the Nationwide race at Richmond. As of now, our plans are to use a substitute driver from the Roush Fenway family of drivers in place of Trevor at Friday night’s race.”
Chris Buescher will fill in for Trevor Bayne and drive the No. 16 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Racing.
Bayne was not scheduled to race in the Sprint Cup race this weekend.
